Oscar Beitia replaces Jaime Trujillo in the direction of the SPI

The general director of the Institutional Protection Service (SPI), Jaime Trujillo, presented his irrevocable resignation from the position yesterday. In a letter addressed to the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, Trujillo indicated that he resigned from the position for personal reasons, while thanking the president for the high honor of having been considered to occupy a position of close trust within the security establishment. of the State.

Trujillo took office on July 1, 2024 and in a few months he achieved a significant restructuring, in a first stage, which allowed the SPI to be strengthened in its custody functions for the president.

In his place, President Mulino appointed Oscar Beitia Cáceres, who previously held the position of deputy director, to the position of general director of the SPI. Beitia is a graduate of the Military Academy of Honduras, he held the position of head of the SPI Training Directorate, head of Operations of the SPI Special Forces Unit and was head of all the Battalions that make up the First Eastern Brigade of the National Service of Borders (SENAFRONT).
