Orteguismo will use all the powers of the State to protest against the OAS

OEA

The Ortega regime prepares its “response” to a resolution of the Organization of American States (OAS), which declared “Illegitimate” the votes of November 7, for which it will use all the powers of the State, according to the Ortega deputy Gustavo Porras, president of the National Assembly.

The Legislative Power – controlled by Ortega and collaborationist deputies – is the one that will emerge in this joint strategy through a plenary session that will be held this Tuesday, in which they will pass a resolution condemning the response of the foreign ministers gathered at the last OAS General Assembly to the process without political competition and under a climate of repression promoted by Ortega.

Porras announced that the same resolution will be replicated by the Electoral, Executive and Judicial Power, all subordinate to Ortega.

“The objective of this plenary session is to reject all these interventionist actions that violate the sovereignty and self-determination of Nicaragua, by that discredited body that is the OAS,” Porras said before a battery of propagandist journalists from the regime.

OAS session

On November 12, Daniel Ortega’s regime suffered a political defeat in the General Assembly of Foreign Ministers of the OAS, when 25 countries passed the resolution that declared “no democratic legitimacy” the voting, in which the Sandinista leader was re-elected for the third consecutive time, without political competition and without democratic guarantees.

“We are also going to ask the rest of the powers of the State to continue demonstrating to prevent the continuation of this interventionist attitude of this body (…) We also want to reach a consensus to urge the president of the republic to denounce the (Inter-American Democratic Charter ) of the OAS, ”added Porras.

The OAS foreign ministers established November 30 as the deadline for the Permanent Council to carry out a “collective assessment” of the country’s situation., “In accordance with the OAS Charter and the Inter-American Democratic Charter,” and that it “take the appropriate actions,” which would put the Ortega regime in the face of a possible suspension of the body.

Although Porras did not mention anything about a Nicaraguan withdrawal from the regional body, propagandists of the dictatorship on social networks have echoed the announcement of the Ortega deputy as a kind of beginning of a process of leaving the country as an active member of the OAS.

The resolution in the General Assembly was presented by the delegations of eight countries: Canada, Antigua and Barbuda, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the United States, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. The only vote against was that of Nicaragua, seven countries abstained and one was declared absent.

According to the voting record, he scored CONFIDENTIAL during transmission, Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Bolivia, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia abstainedn, while the country that was “absent” was Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Departure takes two years

Ortega himself has criticized the OAS in various interventions for its role in condemning the climate of political violence and repression in Nicaragua, calling it even “a sewer”.

“We are still members, and once and for all we should stop being members of that sewer. It is clear that this is an instrument of domination of the Yankee empire, “said Ortega, during an intervention on June 24.

According to the OAS charter, the procedure for voluntary departure from a country as an active member of the organization takes two years, during which time the country will maintain its obligations and responsibilities as any other full member of the organization. In addition, Nicaragua would also have to pay any pending payments that it has with that entity.

The only case of an exit from the OAS in its history has been that of Venezuela, under the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro, one of Ortega’s main allies. The representation of that country has been exercised by an official of Juan Guaidó, whom the majority of members of the organization recognize as the legal representative of Venezuela.
