Ortega withdraws his ambassador to the Cuban dictatorship

The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo ordered the revocation of the appointment of Alejandro José Solís Martínez as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Nicaragua before the dictatorship of Miguel Díaz-Canel, in Cuba.

The cancellation of the diplomatic position of Solís Martínez is contained in Presidential Agreement No. 56-2023, published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette, No. 86 on this Wednesday, May 17.

The former diplomat assumed the leadership of the Nicaraguan delegation on the island in May 2022, that is, he only spent a year as ambassador of the dictatorship before his Cuban counterpart. Solís’ fall occurred on May 11, but it became official this Wednesday, May 17.

The movements in the embassy were carried out as of November 2021 when Ortega ordered the removal of the Nicaraguan nationalized Argentine journalist Luis Cabrera González, who had been his ambassador in Havana since 2007.

In his place, he appointed Sidhartha Francisco Marín Aráuz, who only lasted 11 days in the position, and replaced him with retired colonel Reynaldo del Carmen Lacayo Centeno, who was also dismissed. Wilfredo Jarquín Lang was appointed ambassador on January 6, 2022, he is identified as the former regional delegate of the Interior in the South Caribbean.

Jarquín Lang was only four months in office and was dismissed on May 12, 2022. The diploma seat remained vacant for a few weeks until Dr. Alejandro Solís was appointed at the end of that same month and a year later he was dismissed.
