The steamroller of Sandinista deputies in the National Assembly are ready to cancel the Jurica personality of 19 other non-governmental organizations, among which are the well-known Granada International Poetry Festival Foundation and the Nicaraguan Organization of Advertising Agencies (ONAP).
The legislative decree initiative was presented by the Sandinista deputy Filiberto Rodríguez López, of the Commission for Peace, Defense, Governance and Human Rights.

Regarding the legal basis for requesting the illegalization of the new NGOs, Rodríguez points out that the entities, associations or Foundations have already transgressed and failed to comply with their obligations under the laws that govern them as non-profit organizations.
The parliamentarian affirmed that the “actions” of the organizations “have hindered the control and surveillance of the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organizations, which is run by the Ministry of the Interior for this purpose; by not complying with the laws that govern and regulate them, they have acted against express law.”
“For what the Ministry of the Interior has requested, based on Article 34, numerals 7,9,24,25,27 128 Law No. 1115, General Law of Regulation and Control of Non-Profit Organizations (…) Therefore, it has requested the National Assembly to Cancel the Legal Personality of these entities, considering that they have failed to comply with their duties and obligations before the Regulatory Entity,” he added.
Other remarks made by the Ortega parliamentarian is that the organizations to be “beheaded” have transgressed the Law Against Money Laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.”

Rodríguez pointed out a series of alleged non-compliances by the NGOs and that, according to him, are the reasons why their legal personality is also being canceled.
Among the unpaid assumptions are the non-presentation of the financial statements, expired boards of directors. They also point out that previous donations from abroad were not reported, “violating the provisions of Article 34, number 28 of Law No. 1115, General Law for the Regulation and Control of Non-Profit Organizations, published in La Gaceta, Diario Official No. 66 of April 06, 2022 ».

“With these actions, the aforementioned entities have hindered the control and surveillance of the Department of Registration and Control of Associations of the Ministry of the Interior, because by not reporting their financial reports according to fiscal periods and with detailed breakdowns, they did not promote transparency policies in the administration of the funds, not knowing the execution of the same and if they were in accordance with its objectives and purposes, for which it was granted Legal Personality, ”accuses the Ortega regime.
These are the other 17 NGOs canceled
The other 17 non-governmental organizations to which the dictatorship will cancel their legal personality are the Foundation for Sustainable Development, the Unity Association for the Progress of the North and Center of Nicaragua (UNIPRONC), the Association for Municipal Development (MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT).
Also on the list is the Federation Superior Council of Micro, Small and Maidana Enterprises (COSUMIPYME), Legal Personality granted by Decree AN No. 4709, published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 173 of 09/05/2006, and registered in the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organizations of the Ministry of the Interior since 03/04/2008, under the perpetual number 4061.

The initiative indicates that for the purpose of canceling legal entities, the Department of Non-Profit Civil Associations of the Ministry of the Interior must proceed to cancel the respective registration of each of these associations within a period not exceeding 72 hours. .
Once this step is completed, it adds that “the goods and shares that belong to the associations, will have, after liquidation, the destination foreseen in the Constitutive act or in its Statute. If nothing has been arranged in this regard, these will become the property of the State in accordance with the Law of the matter.
With these new illegalizations, the Ortega dictatorship has annihilated almost 200 organizations, a process that began in December 2018, eight months after a popular revolt broke out over controversial social security reforms.
