The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo is asking the United Nations (UN) to let it be part of the search for a solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and as a first measure, it asks that they suspend it from the General Assembly of the UN to the Jewish State for, supposedly, practicing “apartheid” against the Palestinian people.
In an extensive letter, signed by the chancellor of the dictatorship, Valdrack Jaentschke Whitaker, sent to the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, the Managua regime reminds him of everything that, they say, they have done to support the Palestinian people and their actions to condemn what they call genocide and occupation of those territories.
The letter begins by pointing out to the senior UN official that they refer to the “Note Verbal DPPA/DPO/MED/2024/01945” on the implementation of General Assembly resolution ES-10/24 entitled “Advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the illegality of Israel’s continued presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In that sense, they insist that “Nicaragua shares historical ties and mutual expressions of fraternity and solidarity with Palestine, being the first Central American country to establish diplomatic relations with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), in 1979, and one of the first countries to officially recognize Palestine as an independent State.

Furthermore, the dictators assure that they continue to be respectful of international law and “their firm commitment to the Rule of Law at the international level, the search for the long-awaited understanding, peaceful coexistence between Nations and continues to promote the Culture of Peace,” although in Nicaragua they continue escalating repression and causing the forced displacement of thousands of Nicaraguans.
The Managua dictatorship tries to ignore that this same organization has issued reports pointing out the State of Nicaragua as a violator of the human rights of its people and the dictators Ortega and Murillo as the main perpetrators of crimes against humanity.
However, in their letter, the tyrants of Nicaragua seek to establish themselves as respectful of human rights and in that sense they ask to be taken into account in the search for a solution to the conflict in the Middle East, reminding the UN that the State of Nicaragua is part of the “genocide” lawsuits against Israel, along with South Africa.
«In January 2024, the Government of Nicaragua, as a state party to the Convention Against Genocide, in accordance with its obligation to prevent genocide and cooperate to this end with the other contracting parties, presented to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) , a request to participate in the case initiated by South Africa against Israel, on December 29, 2023, related to the “Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip””, insists the regime from Managua.
Ortega also reminds the UN that, in February 2024, he held the governments of the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Canada directly responsible for “flagrant and systematic violations of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, International Humanitarian Law and Customary Law, including the Law on occupation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, in particular the Gaza Strip.
He also adds, as part of his actions, that he broke diplomatic relations with Israel in solidarity with Palestine.
After all these actions, the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship assures that “it can contribute to carry out concrete actions, whether in the International Court of Justice, the General Assembly and all its Multilateral Bodies.”
Likewise, in the letter to the Secretary General of the UN, the Nicaraguan tyranny, despite ignoring the reports of the Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua (GHREN) and the reports of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), now They ask that “all the studies and investigations carried out by the different United Nations mechanisms are required, which prove that Israel practices a system of segregation and apartheid.”
