Ortega stayed in Managua, he no longer even goes to Cuba for the ALBA Summit

Flanked by the sanctioned president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, and the sanctioned vice president, Rosario Murillo, the dictator Daniel Ortega appeared virtually to participate in the XXI Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

Surprisingly, the dictator did not travel to Havana for this edition of the meeting of the so-called “group of ignored countries” after being excluded from the Summit of the Americas, which will take place in a few days in Los Angeles, California, United States.

In his monologue, from Managua, the dictator once again attacked the United States calling it “terrorist” and “criminal”, called for the economic blockade of the dictatorships of Cuba and Venezuela, and praised the regional forums where he can still participate, although he does not attend either. .

Ortega assured that under ALBA “the dream of Simón Bolívar and (Augusto C.) Sandino, of forming the Community of Caribbean and Latin American States (CELAC), was fulfilled.”

«The Summit (of the Americas) of the empire»

The United States organizes the Summit of the Americas and confirmed yesterday that it will not invite the dictatorships of Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela for violating human rights in their respective countries. After the decision of the North American administration, Ortega assured that he was not interested in participating in said event.

«There is no need for the Summit of the Americas, which is the summit of the empire that thinks that there is still room for that type of summit where the empire summoned the countries of its backyard, subject to the Monroe doctrine to dictate to them, and excluded the countries that had decided to build their own path, like Cuba,” said the Nicaraguan dictator.

The dictator also accused the United States of leading the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) “against the Russian federation, trying to take over the Russia that Napoleon tried to dominate and where he sank, the Russia that tried to take over the Nazis.”

The dictator made an analogy between the fictional character “Rambo” with the leaders of the European Union (EU) and President Joe Biden of the United States, accusing them of offering “bullets here, weapons there, sanctions here, sanctions over there. Some crazy people who are destroying their own countries, their own economies that are making life more expensive for their own inhabitants and who are attacking all of humanity».

ALBA was created in 2004 in Havana by the then presidents of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, and that of Cuba, Fidel Castro. Currently it is made up of 10 countries and three nations as “special guests”.

They usually hold their leaders’ summits at the end of the year. The previous one was in December 2021, also in Havana. So issues of internal cooperation were discussed and the idea of jointly producing agri-food products and medicines was even launched.

Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Granada, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Venezuela are the 10 member countries of ALBA and participate today in the continental event.
