The Nicaraguan Ministry of the Interior published the cancellations of legal status of two universities linked to the Catholic Church.

These are the Juan Pablo II University, based in Managua, Matagalpa, Juigalpa and Granada; They will also close the Autonomous Christian University of Nicaragua, based in León and Chinadenga, Estelí, Masaya, Juigalpa and Matagalpa.

The authorities argued the cancellation of both houses of studies in that “they are in breach of their obligations under the law before the CNU, CNEA and Migob, for not being accredited in the quality indicators; not reporting their financial statements and boards of directors; not present clarifications about the patrimony, fixed assets, income, expenses, executions of funds, increase and decrease in accounts without justifying, in accordance with the provisions of the General Law for the Regulation and Control of Non-Profit Organizations”.
