“The doctor is innocent, or is it a crime to give an opinion and analyze the political, social and economic crisis that the same regime has provoked?”
At the same time, Cenidh reported that a political scientist is being held in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) known as “El Nuevo Chipote” in Managua. Only his relatives and his defense attorney have been able to pass him water.

Vargas, 77, was arrested on November 22, “with luxury of violence and aggressiveness,” according to Cenidh, while he was at his sister’s house at the time of her “kidnapping.”
The arrest against the critic of the Ortega y Murillo dictatorship occurred after his return from Costa Rica, the country where he was granted asylum, after the constant threats against him.
Óscar René Vargas only gave interviews by telephone and without exposing himself to the cameras as a security measure to avoid being found by the Ortega-Murillo regime. The opponent joins the list of political prisoners in Nicaragua.
