Hilfrem Saborio, 22, joins a long list of political prisoners from the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo. The young man was detained by the Nicaraguan Army on November 1st, near the Sapoá River, in Cárdenas, in the department of Rivas, along with Mildred Rayo and Miguel Floresmembers of the Nicaraguan University Alliance (AUN).
The three young men were deprived of their freedom during a requisition carried out by the military institution at about 6:30 in the morning while they were moving towards Managua.
According to a source, who preferred to remain anonymous, at the time of the arrest, Rayo was coming from Costa Rica and Hilfrem Saborío together with Miguel Flores went to meet her in the Cárdenas sector, where the Army intercepted and detained them.

Hilfrem Saborío had graduated as a Computer Engineer from the National Engineering University (UNI) and worked in a call center for while he obtained a job in the branch of his profession.
The new political prisoners remain confined in the cells of District Three of the Police in Managua. The Nicaraguan justice system accuses the three young men of the alleged crimes of “conspiracy to undermine the national integrity and propagation of false news”.
Rayo, Flores and Saborío faced off yesterday, Wednesday, January 25, against a trial riddled with “illegalities.” The Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh) reported that the political trial against the youths ended at around 6:30 in the afternoon.
Judge Félix Ernesto Salmerón, of the Fifth Criminal District Court of Managua, found the three young men guilty of the two crimes they were charged with. The Ortega Prosecutor’s Office requested 10 years in prison for Miguel Flores and Hilfrem Saborío, and eight for Mildred Rayo.
«From Cenidh we condemn this violation of the guarantees of due process and human rights. Once again the unpresentable Judicial Power acts in complicity with the Ortega-Murillo regime. We demand freedom for them and all political persons in Nicaragua,” the agency wrote in its Twitter account. Twitter.
