This Monday, July 18, sources close to the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, better known as “El Chipote”, revealed that the political prisoner Jaime Arellano continues without receiving specialized and quality medical care to treat the deterioration of his health.
The source detailed the team Article 66 that a general practitioner from the “Chipote” clinic went to the house of the hostage of the dictatorship to “check him up,” but he only took his blood pressure and left, because he was under orders not to do anything else.
He also indicated that Arellano cannot walk and is lying down due to severe headaches and constant dizziness that he has had for several days.

On July 15, Nicaraguan opposition organizations warned of the deteriorating health of the political prisoner, who may have suffered a stroke.
The political groups point out that the prisoner of conscience “is in danger” and “urgently” needs to be assessed by a specialist. They demand that Daniel Ortega’s regime allow the journalist to be treated by a private doctor.
The political commentator has been under house arrest since June 24, 2021 when he was arrested. He is 61 years old and has problems with obesity, circulation and high blood pressure. He was sentenced by the Ortega justice to 13 years in prison for conspiracy to undermine, spread false news, through information and communication technology.
For its part, the International Press Association (IAPA) asked the international community, through a statement, to “close ranks” in defense of Miguel Mora, Miguel Mendoza, Jaime Arellano, Cristiana Chamorro, Pedro Joaquín Chamorro and Juan Lorenzo. Holmann, since they are prisoners of conscience sentenced in summary trials, without due process and for non-existent crimes.
