Lawyer Yonarqui Martínez told this media outlet that the father of another member of the opposition Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy, Wilfredo Suazo, was kicked as well as Yubrank. Her mother is in very poor health and is under medical care.
The jurist pointed out that it is not known to which police delegation the opposition leader was taken. “Let’s remember that Yubrank was arrested in 2018 and was in maximum security cells, he was beaten and when he was released he was never allowed to be in his house. “There was a time when -Yubrank Suazo- made the decision to be at home, it was a very difficult situation, but there had never been a major incident, however in recent days there was a strong siege on his property, to the point that one of his neighbors was constantly watched and questioned,” added Martínez.
The human rights defender pointed out that after the arbitrary arrest, the police are still outside the home of Suazo’s parents. “It was not enough for them to have beaten Yubrank’s father and caused his mother to be in poor health.”
Martínez reported that in the morning hours he will be present at the Masaya police district and later at the Directorate of Assistance (DAJ) in Managua, to find out where Yubrank Suazo is being held and the causes of his arrest.
