Ortega police kidnap Jasson Salazar, youth opposition leader

The Police at the service of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo arbitrarily detained the youth leader Jason Noel Salazar Rugama, This was denounced by the April 19 University Movement (MU19A).

According to the organization, Salazar, 26, was kidnapped at 8:13 on the morning of Tuesday, April 4, in Managua. “We make publicly known to the national and international community the illegal and arbitrary detention of our Vice President (…) The National Police broke into his house with an operation of 20 agents in search of him.”

“(…) They made an illegal search of the house, they took personal belongings and in a patrol he was transferred to District III of Managua, where we have confirmed that they have unfairly detained him,” added the MU19A.

The university organization denounced that “the month of April has been crucial for young Nicaraguans who want to build a country in justice, freedom and democracy. This illegal detention reflects the true feelings of a regime that fears and consequently persecutes the young people who are the present and the future of our nation.”

On March 29, the young Valeska Valle, also a member of the April 19 University Movement, released a video on social networks in which she gave details of a fierce persecution and threats received against her, which forced her to go into exile in Costa Rica.

The 27-year-old activist denounced that “on Monday, March 27, at 5:15 in the afternoon, the National Police broke into the place where I had been clandestinely for some months.”

“They came to threaten me and tell me that I should leave the country immediately, quietly and without posting anything on my social networks, because they knew about my leadership and my political activism, and that they had monitored my digital networks. They also assured me that they are keeping an eye on me, my family and loved ones, “said the opponent through her Twitter account.

Valle pointed out that the action by the Ortega Police “was a clear sign of a direct threat and intimidation that violated my physical integrity, for which I decided to leave the place where I was as best I could, being persecuted at all times by the Police.” .

It remains to be seen if Jasson Salazar joins the list of political prisoners that currently exceeds 35, including the Bishop of Matagalpa, Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, or if they do the same to him as to Dr. Anely Pérez, who was detained for a few hours and then banished her to the United States.
