The Daniel Ortega regime continues with its “hunt” for opponents. On the night of Saturday, May 13, the National Police arrested at least 18 Nicaraguan citizens who are critical of the Sandinista dictatorship.
The Blue and White Monitoring detailed that the arbitrary detentions were registered in the departments of Chinandega, Managua, Granada, Masaya, Rivas, Chontales, Madriz, Boaco and on the North and South Caribbean Coast of the country.
In addition, he pointed out that the number of people arrested could be higher, since not all cases are reported due to the repression.

It was learned that the detained opponents, on Saturday night, were accused by the Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of undermining national integrity and cybercrimes, a legal norm that the regime uses to brand dissident Nicaraguans “traitors to the homeland.”
After the “express trial” the citizens were released, in the early hours of this Sunday, but they have to present themselves to sign daily, in a period of six months, at the police station in their city.
Among the opponents arrested is Yolanda Gonzalez Escobar originally from Masaya; and Juan Carlos Marquez, de Nandaime and a member of the Nicaraguan University Alliance (AUN), who were kidnapped from their respective homes, and later transferred to the Managua courts.
This is the second wave of mass arrests so far in May. The first was on the third of this month, executed by the Police at the service of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship, where they arrested 57 opponents, Among them are activists, former politicians, priests and journalists.
Opponents do not rule out that the wave of repression continues, because they assure that the purpose of the Ortega government is to sow terror to silence opposition voices.
