The musicians Juan Pablo Rosales, Nieves Martínez and Dagoberto Fuentes Palacios were detained since Monday, November 11, by the National Police, controlled by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo. The three artists were locked up in the Judicial Assistance Directorate, known as El Chipote, and have had no contact with their family.
The police institution, confirmed journalist Miguel Mendoza, has so far argued to the relatives of these three musicians “they are under investigation”, but they do not receive food or personal hygiene products.

The musician Dagoberto Ariel Fuentes Palacios, according to the Mendoza publication, was arrested in his home, located in Masaya, around 10 in the morning on Monday, November 11, after a subject arrived at the home to ask about the singer’s services.

To arrest Nieves Martínez, a singer with more than 15 years of experience and owner of a music production company, the Police took a hostage and made the singer go to El Chipote.
Journalist Mendoza indicated that “the Sandinista Police went looking for him at his house and since they did not find him, they arrested his brother. After a call, Nieves showed up at El Chipote on Monday night, and was detained, while his brother was released.
The lawyer and human rights defender Danilo Martínez, through social networks, confirmed that his son Nieves Martínez was exiled by the Ortega regime this November 13.
The jurist pointed out the act as “a flagrant violation of human rights” and assured that for now he does not know “to which country” his son was sent.
While for the arrest of Juan Pablo Rosales, according to the confirmations that Mendoza received, as with Dagoberto Palacios, the Ortega Police sent a person to ask about him and then they sent a group of police officers to arrest him.
Juan Pablo Rosales, according to the information he has on his Facebook account, is a flutist who graduated from Bercklee Music College in New York, United States; has collaborated with the Rubén Darío Youth Symphony Orchestra; and, currently, he is part of the band Arcus, which last January performed a concert during the festivities in honor of San Sebastián.
Relatives, friends and acquaintances, consulted by Mendoza, indicated that they suspect that the arrest of these three musicians could be linked to “an act of revenge or charging them for their participation in a musical event that was organized one night in the small square of Monimbó, Masaya. , during the 2018 protests.
The Ortega Police, until the publication of this report, had not published the reasons for the arrest of these three musicians from Masaya.
