The Ortega regime officially dismissed Marcela María Pérez, widow of the militant and Sandinista commander Tomás Borge Martínez, from office as Nicaraguan ambassador to Peru. In his place, the dictatorship appointed Gadiel Francisco Arce, but under the post of counselor minister with consular functions.
By means of the presidential agreement number 184-2022 published this morning in La Gaceta, Ortega directed “to annul the appointment of the comrade Marcela María Pérez Silva, in the position of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua before the government of the Republic from Peru; contained in the presidential agreement number 112-2012».

Pérez Silva had held the position since June 1, 2012, a month after her husband, fervent regime ally Tomás Borge Martínez, died, he also served as ambassador to the Peruvian embassy.
Along these same lines, Ortega decided to remove his ally Gadiel Francisco Arce Mairena from his post as Nicaragua’s ambassador to Colombia and send him to Peru. According to the presidential agreement number 185-2022, Arce took office on September 15 of this year.
According to information obtained by the now-defunct El Nuevo Diario, Arce Mairena was a Foreign Relations official during the first Sandinista government from 1979 to 1990 in the former Yugoslavia, and held political responsibilities for the Sandinista party in Germany, Cuba, England and Venezuela.
In addition, he served as Tomás Borge’s assistant until 2017. The Sandinista ambassador is a psychologist by profession, graduated from the Central American University (UCA), and in 2013 he was appointed first consul with diplomatic equivalency as counselor of the Nicaraguan consulate to the city from Liberia province of Guanacaste, in Costa Rica.
Originally from Estelí, municipality of La Trinidad, he was appointed ambassador to Iran after the return of the Sandinistas to power in 2007, and was later appointed as business manager with consular functions, general consul and counselor minister of the Nicaraguan embassy in Ecuador .
Now it will be the Ortega official Milagros del Carmen Urbina Rocha who will occupy the position of ambassador to Colombia, according to ministerial agreement number 45-2022 also published in La Gaceta this Wednesday. Urbina is currently the interim charge d’affaires of the Nicaraguan Embassy.
