In a change of strategy that leaves aside, for the moment, the exile of opponents, the Nicaraguan dictatorship released, during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, dozens of citizens who had been kidnapped by the Ortega police and who They remained missing, as confirmed Article 66 with neighbors of the former prisoners.

According to the few data known so far, through various sources, the political prisoners were taken from the cells where they were kept deprived of their liberty and incommunicado, put on buses and transferred to their respective homes where they were handed over to their relatives under severe warnings not to give statements or leave their homes.

The media outlet 100% Noticias claims to have contacted a police source who confirmed the release of 38 prisoners of conscience. Among those “released” are not included the journalist Leo Cárcamo and the citizen Julio Quintana, who would have been separated from the group.

According to the count kept by the independent organization from exile, Blue and White Monitoring (MAB), as of November 22, when the dictatorship intensified the persecution against people perceived as opponents, at least 40 citizens had been detained arbitrarily by the repressive forces of the regime, among whom are several older adults.
