The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo continues its “advanced” against non-profit organizations. Through the Ministry of the Interior (Migob) canceled, this Friday, May 19, 12 NGOs, allegedly for failing to comply with the laws that regulate them. He also dissolved 10 others “voluntarily”.

In the ministerial agreement number 79-2023-OSFL, published in La Gaceta, the official newspaper, it indicates that the 12 organizations, which were outlawed, “have failed to comply with their obligations under the Law, before the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Organisms non profit”.

They are also accused of not reporting their financial statements for periods of between three and 12 years according to fiscal periods, with detailed breakdowns of income and expenses, trial balance, details of donations (origin, provenance and final beneficiary) and their Boards. Directives.

Among the NGOs canceled by the Nicaraguan dictatorship, there are eight religious entities, an association of lawyers from León and one of historical combatants.

The 12 NGOs that join the list of more than three thousand cancelled, from 2018 to date, are the following:

1. Apostolic Church Association Jesus Christ is the Truth.

2. Alpha and Omega Apostolar Association, Personality.

3. Cadenas Cicilagos and Lives without Cancer Foundation.

5. Association of Trial Lawyers and Notaries Public of the Department of León (ASANDP).

6. International Association of Christian Churches the World for Jesus Christ (JACOB’S DREAM).

7. Association of Historical Combatants of San Marcos “Moya Larios” (ACOHSAM).

8. Interdenominational Maranatha Christian Center Association.

9. Foundation for the Development of Chontaleñas Women “Red de Mujeres Chontaleñas” (FUNREDMUCH).

10. Ministry of Faith Association “Christ Breaks the Chains”.

11. Kingdom Nation Vision Foundation (VRN).

12. Association Christ is the Ark of Nicaragua (ACEEANIC).

Another of the accusations that are made to the 12 NGOs, and which is the same that has been made to more than three thousand canceled organizations, is that supposedly they “have hindered the control and surveillance of the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organizations of Migob».

In addition, they are accused of not promoting transparency policies in the administration of their funds, “ignoring the execution of their projects and if they were in accordance with their objectives and purposes, for which they were granted Legal Personality.”

As has happened with the other organizations, the dictatorship ordered the Migob to confiscate the assets of these 12 NGOs, relying on article 47 of the Regulations of Law 1115, which establishes that “it will correspond to the Attorney General of the Republic to carry out the transfer of these in the name of the State of Nicaragua”.

10 NGOs dissolved “voluntarily”

As for the 10 NGOs, most of them religious entities, which were dissolved “voluntarily”, ministerial agreement number 78-2023 states that the decision was approved by the Minister of the Interior, María Amelia Coronel Kinloch.

The organizations that will stop operating in the country, by “own decision” are the following:

1. Masaya Foundation Against Poverty (MACONPO), According to Migob, it requested voluntary dissolution through Minutes No. 18 of the Extraordinary General Assembly of 02/26/2023, for not having financing to continue carrying out its projects.

2. King of Glory Eternal Ministry Association (MIREY), supposedly “for being inactive since 2018 and not carrying out activities.”

3. Silva Cabrera Foundation (SILVA FOUNDATION), Legal personality granted by Decree No. 7202, published in the Official Gazette No. 121 of 07/01/2013, registered since 10/16/2013, under perpetual number 5737; requested voluntary dissolution unanimously of its members through Minutes No. 07 of the Ordinary General Assembly of 04/05/2021, since due to multiple situations the Foundation was unable to develop projects.

4. Institute of Economic and Social Research (INIES), «requested on 04/19/2023 voluntary dissolution as an NGO, since according to Law No. 89, “Higher Education Autonomy Law”, the Institute of Economic and Social Research (INIES), was attached to UNAN-Managua» .

5. The Good Shepherd Foundation. The Interior indicates that “unanimously its members requested voluntary dissolution on 03/31/2023 since the Foundation has no income to continue carrying out its projects.”

6. Civil Association of the Demobilized of Camoapa (ACDECA), This requested on 01/28/2023 voluntary dissolution due to a decrease in its membership.

7. Franciscan Clarisas Sisters Association (HCF). The government entity reports that this organization requested voluntary dissolution through Act No.17 of the Extraordinary General Assembly of 04/19/2023, “since since 2021 the Association has not received financing to develop its purposes and objectives.”

8. Association of Cooperatives of Small Coffee Producers of Nicaragua (CAFENICA)who requested voluntary dissolution, according to Migob, by Act No. 25 of the Extraordinary Assembly of 10/27/2022, “since its purposes and objectives did not correspond to those of an NGO.”

9. Church Association of the New Alliance. Regarding this religious organization, the Interior indicated the request for dissolution —made on April 4 of this year— was “due to decrease in membership”which would be the first church to “annihilate itself” for this alleged reason.

10. Nora López Foundation (NOLO). The regime argues that the request for “voluntary dissolution” was because since its registration in 2016, they did not receive income to carry out their projects.

Without including these latest cancellations, the Nunca Más Nicaragua Human Rights Collective, counted as of May 12, 3,342 NGOs beheaded by orders of the Ortega and Murillo administration, who have disappeared organizations that defend human rights, feminists, altruists, universities, among other.
