Ortega cancels the appointment of a designated military officer to the Nicaraguan Embassy in Guatemala

Through presidential agreement 48-2022, published in La Gaceta, the official newspaper, Daniel Ortega canceled the appointment of Colonel Mario Napoleon Vindell Midence, in the position of concurrent Defense, Military, Naval and Air Attaché to the Embassy of Nicaragua in the Republic of Guatemala. In this way, the presidential agreement number 92-2017, of June 28, 2017, is without effect.

Article two of the same agreement states that this resolution by the Executive will take effect as of its publication, that is, as of this Friday, March 24.

Since March 24, one day after the then ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Arthur McFieldsdenounced the regime of Ortega and Murillo, the dictatorship has made a series of movements both in its diplomatic corps and now in the country’s Army.

So far, the silence of Ortega’s supporters over McFields’ statements has translated into dismissals and new appointments, such as that of Carlos Midence, former ambassador of Spain, who has now been installed at the Nicaraguan Embassy in Argentina.

On the other hand, it was learned that on March 24, an award ceremony was held for 40 soldiers of the Nicaraguan Army who passed the condition of retirement.

Since Ortega has been in power, the Nicaraguan Army has repeatedly declared its fidelity to the dictatorship, and has even railed against the opposition and the independent media.
