Ortega buries “development” of Nicaragua by canceling NGOs, say defenders

Cenidh: Nicaragua is experiencing the "most perverse repression" in its recent history

The Nicaraguan Human Rights Collective Never Again condemned the “arbitrary” cancellation of 17 international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Nicaragua ordered by the Ortega-Murillo regime.

The foreign associations were cancelled, according to the Ministry of the Interior (Migob), at the service of the Daniel Ortega regime, because they were not registered as “foreign agents”, according to administrative resolutions of the Ministry of the Interior (Migob) published in La Gaceta No. 106 this Friday, June 10, 2022.

The official resolutions of the Interior indicate that the organizations hindered “the control and surveillance of the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organizations of the Migob.”

“The Ortega Murillo regime continues with the arbitrary cancellations of organizations; To date, there are at least 460 between national and international organizations, violating the right to freedom of association, political participation, legal and due process, as well as the contribution to the development of Nicaragua, “explains the human rights organization.

The Nicaragua Never Again Collective condemned “the systematic repression that the Ortega Murillo regime promotes against civil society organizations and we demand freedom for all political prisoners in Nicaragua.”

The canceled NGOs correspond to countries that have applied sanctions to officials of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and countries of the European Union. The canceled organizations are:
