Ortega blames the US for massive migration of Nicaraguans, Venezuelans, and Cubans

Daniel Ortega said -in his speech for the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of the Interior (Migob)- that the United States Government, which he called “terrorist” and “human rights violator”, is guilty of the massive migration that arrives to its borders; that Russia fights to save its inhabitants from the Nazi and fascist government of Ukraine; and that Europe is a “bloody garden” that, together with the West, wants to finish off China.

On the afternoon of this Thursday the 27th, Ortega participated in the event together with his wife and vice president, Rosario Murillo, in addition to his hosts, the Minister of the Interior, María Amelia Coronel, and his deputy ministers, along with the head of the Nicaraguan Army, Army General , Julio César Avilés, and the chief of the National Police, first commissioner Francisco Díaz.

The cameras also showed, a little far from the main podium, the president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras; the president of the Supreme Electoral Council, Brenda Rocha; the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Alba Luz Ramos; in addition to the Attorney General of the Republic, Ana Julia Guido, among many other officials.

After mentioning -once again- the Battle of San Jacinto (1856); the cacique Diriangén (16th century), and General Benjamín Zeledón, (early 20th century), before beginning to praise the more than fifteen years he has been in the Government of Nicaragua, Ortega began to distribute accusations against the United States and the European Union, which have imposed sanctions to his family and relatives.

Blame it on… America

“The policy of the North American rulers is the practice of the gangsters: they send messengers to all the countries of the world, and their message is: either they do what I say, or we are going to punish them. We are going to attack them, ”she assured, asking rhetorically how many sanctions the United States has applied in the world.

His answer is that this country is the one more sanctions has been applied and therefore, “the one that has caused the greatest damage and crisis in the world, and then they complain about the emigrants. Keep imposing sanctions, and migrants will continue to arrive at their doors”, he said in reference to Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguans fleeing dictatorships that overwhelm their countries.

Constantly, social networks show caravans of buses that transport thousands of Nicaraguans to the border with Honduras, in search of reaching the United States. In the same way, hundreds of people can be seen lining up at the Immigration offices to pay a minimum of 750 cordobas to obtain their passport and leave the country.

Ortega continued to blame the United States, saying that that country denies the right to work in the nations of Latin America, returning to the “brutal blockade” against Cuba, which he blamed for the enormous migration of islanders who have fled their country to United States and many other countries on the continent over the decades.

“Those who cause these waves of migrants” with caravans of Cubans, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, but also Guatemalans, Haitians, Salvadorans, and Hondurans, “are the North American rulers, terrorists, violators of human rights,” who violate the right to work, maintain a blockade against Cuba, or mistreat countries Central Americans, he assured.

The Kremlin spokesman

After attacking the Americans, he did the same thing with the European Union. The attack focused on the person of the Spaniard Joseph Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, of whom he said “he came out with a nonsense… when he began to say calmly, to boast, that while Europe is a garden, the rest of the countries are a jungle, a jungle. What disrespect!”

“That garden is stained with blood. Why were they invading African countries? To steal their wealth and develop their own economies”, he said, recalling the colonization of India by the British empire, or the slave trade, for example.

Ortega said that he met Borrell “in the days when he presented himself as a man of the left, and now he has become the spokesman for those who bloodied the planet to turn Europe into a garden. What a shame! How dare he insult our people in this way? It is an arrogance, an arrogance, where the Europeans believe that they continue to be the owners of the world, together with the United States! ”, He reiterated.

The dictator also justified the ‘special military operation‘ of Vladimir Putin, the name with which the Russian tries to cover up his war of aggression against Ukraine, a country governed by a government that emerged from a coup, according to Ortega.

Repeating the Kremlin’s version, Ortega said what Moscow wants is to protect the Russian-speakers who inhabit Ukraine, and are being attacked by the “fascist and Nazi” government of Volodimir Zelensky, and that it is not a war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, but between the capitalist world and the capitalist powers that “have come together to seek how to destroy Russia and China.”

What the minister did not say

Prior to Ortega’s rant, Minister Coronel promoted several high-ranking officials in grades, and then went on to read an annual report, in which she listed thousands of ‘services’ that this state entity had provided to non-profit organizations and their representatives, without making any reference to the more than 2,400 NGOs that have been closed down both by the National Assembly and by the ministry in charge of them.

He also made reference to the ‘humanism’ with which the National Penitentiary System treats inmates in its custody, without saying a single word to refer, for example, to the death of General Hugo Torres, or to the cruel treatment that implies not giving inmates political prisoners the regular visits that common criminals have, to the point that several have had to declare a hunger strike to be able to see their children.

Both Ortega and Coronel were silent about the exile to which a group of Nicaraguans has been selectively forced and the massive migration that forces the poorest in the country to seek better horizons abroad, and then begin to send remittances to help their families. families, and support the consumption of families suffering from unemployment.
