Ortega appoints his ambassador to France, as concurrent in Portugal

The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, appointed Sylvia Celina Miranda Paniagua as his new ambassador to the Government of Portugal, as a concurrent, based in Paris, reported this Thursday the Official Gazette, La Gaceta.

Miranda Paniagua, current Nicaraguan ambassador to France, has served as chargé d’affaires in Greece and minister-counselor before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), based in Paris.

Through another presidential agreement published in La Gaceta, the Sandinista president annulled the appointment of Guisell Socorro Morales Echaverry as concurrent ambassador to Portugal.

Morales Echaverry is the current Nicaraguan ambassador to the United Kingdom, a position she has held since October 2014, when she replaced the jurist Carlos Argüello.

Morales Echaverry is the daughter of Sandinista guerrilla fighter Ricardo Morales Avilés, assassinated by the National Guard in 1973, according to the digital portal Nicaragua Investiga.
