The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo accused 13 opponents and their families for the alleged crimes of conspiracy to undermine national integrity and spread false news.
The accusations were presented on September 30 and October 1 in the Managua courts, according to a note from the press office of the Judicial Power.
The new political prisoners were presented before the Sixth Judge of the Managua Criminal Hearing District, Judge Rolando Salvador Sanarrusia Munguía, who admitted the accusations presented by the Public Ministry against the 13 people and sent them to preventive detention.

The alleged victims of the crimes attributed to the opponents are the Nicaraguan State and society. The regime’s justice points them out for violating Law 1042, the Special Cybercrime Law, and Law 1050, the Sovereignty Law, two legal instruments used to repress, imprison, and silence dissenting and critical voices of the Ortega Murillo regime.
They were accused of spreading false news and conspiracy: Freddy Martín Porras García, José David Gallo Torrez, José Javier Álvarez Argüello, Nicolás Palacios Ortiz, Hugo Ramón Rodríguez Flores, Ana Carolina Álvarez Horvilleur, Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra, Félix Ernesto Roiz Sotomayor and Javier Alberto Álvarez Zamora; for the latter, the court issued an arrest warrant.
Porras García is the brother of the leader of the Renovating Democratic Union (Unamos), Dulce Porras, who is in exile. The man was arrested at his house in Jinotepe, Carazo on September 15.
Javier Álvarez Zamora, another of the defendants who is free and for whom an arrest warrant was issued, is the father of Ana Carolina Álvarez Horvilleur, husband of Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra and father-in-law of Félix Ernesto Roiz Sotomayor, the three were captured in the absence of Álvarez Zamora at his home on September 13.
Gabriel López del Carmen, 34, is the son of Andrea del Carmen, director of Unamos, and is in exile. The young man lives in Matagalpa, but was detained at his mother’s house in Managua when he arrived for a few days to take care of his maternal grandmother.
For the crime of undermining national integrity, the Public Ministry accused Adolfo Ramón García Ramírez, Gabriel Alfonso López del Carmen, Arnulfo José Somarriba Aguilar and Andrea Margarita del Carmen Ibarra, who was also issued an arrest warrant.
