The mayor of Canelones, the Frente Amplio member Yamandú Orsi, said that the case of the former head of custody of Luis Lacalle Pou, Alejandro Astesiano, affected the image of the country, since “the president was not taken care of” because “that, which is our President, I was sitting on a powder keg.”
“Let’s go to the heart of the matter: the President of the Republic institution was not taken care of,” added Orsi, one of the most sympathetic politicians among citizens, according to a recent survey.
effect on the image
For him, along with the Astesiano case, that of drug trafficker Sebatián Marset, affected the country’s image internationally. Marset is a dangerous drug dealer who formed the First Uruguayan Cartel and escaped from a Dubai jail after the Lacalle Pou government gave him a legitimate passport.
He demanded more responsibilities on the part of the different hierarchs. “And here, that a ‘time bomb is placed under the table’, nobody went? It seems to me that we are not seeing the seriousness of the matter and that the Government does not see it more worries me because it is putting at risk not only the image of the country but also that of the Government”, he concluded.
