Orsi presented a series of proposals to the unions to improve the working conditions of Ministry of the Interior officials. Among the initiatives, he highlighted the need to “clean up the salaries” of police officers to address the high levels of staff indebtedness. He noted that this would be in line with previous measures announced in Cologne and had the backing of union representatives. In addition, he highlighted the importance of providing mental health assistance, given the high suicide rate among officials. “There we propose a support team when we reach the government, for containment and concrete assistance to police workers,” he stated at a press conference after the meeting.
Another of the highlighted points was the need to reform police health and separate the administration of prisons from the Ministry of the Interior. “At the same time as creating a separate entity for the issue of prisons, we must also generate a health device for that world that cannot be the same as the one the police have today,” he expressed.
Orsi also proposed establishing a team to address the problems of Ministry of the Interior workers from a human and personal perspective, beyond strictly work demands. Regarding the housing situation of the police officers, the candidate promised to “invigorate the housing fund” which, as he expressed, has not yet yielded the expected results despite having the necessary resources.
In a publication on his social network account “Our government will have 2,000 new police officers and a system of scholarships for police stations,” said the candidate.
