Orsi referred to the decision of the mayors of Montevideo opposed to Cosse, not to approve the IDB loan of about 70 million dollars for sanitation in the capital.

“What happens in Montevideo, that it does not have IDB credits, is unprecedented, because historically it has had them. We are talking about the fact that they have been a reality for at least 30 years”, said the Canarian mayor.

He remarked that Montevideo “is the best sanitized city in Latin America, it has a level of connection to sanitation that is incredible and it is unprecedented that credits are cut, even to carry out works.”

The head of the Canarian government remarked that the IDB credits for the departments of the interior come through the Planning and Budget Office (OPP). While in Montevideo there is a special decision.

“That this is being done, it’s happening for something that I can’t help but relate it to political – partisan issues,” Orsi questioned.
