In a statement, the group highlighted that “Batllismo has distinguished us and distinguishes us as a society” and highlighted its commitment to the defense of human rights and the protection of the most vulnerable sectors.
In its statement, the group pointed out that these ideas reflect the spirit of transformation that has characterized Batllismo in the country: “It is these struggles, those for a better quality of life for all, with which Batllismo has characterized itself and has put into practice, helping the transformation of our country and looking to the future to continue advancing towards an equal Uruguay for all.
This support is added to that of Zaida González, who competed in the Colorado Party internal elections and, in the general elections, aspired to a seat in the Senate. González announced his support for Orsi, a decision that represents a vote of confidence in his proposal to build bridges between parties.
Orsi’s campaign has also been strengthened by the incorporation of Víctor Björgan, a security advisor linked to emblematic figures of the National Party, such as Wilson Ferreira Aldunate. Björgan, dismissed from his position in the State Secretariat of Strategic Intelligence, will contribute his experience and help strengthen Orsi’s ties with sectors of the traditional parties.
From the Maldonado Independent Batllista Group, support for Orsi is based on the fact that his vision represents the Batllista ideals and his pragmatism to move towards an “equal Uruguay for all.”
