Organized crime intensifies its threat to governments at the beginning of 2022

This Tuesday the 18th, in Tangamandapio, Michoacán, the abandonment of five bodies was reported on the La Trasquilla – San Ángel highway.

“The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel are fighting over states, but not only for territorial control, but also for municipal police, the management of state prosecutors, and the management of the prison system,” explains David Saucedo.

He adds that the intention of controlling the police is so that they do not work to take care of citizens or fight crime, but for their organization. While the penitentiary system is to control prisons and operate from them.

Saucedo points out that criminal organizations such as the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel advance in three ways:

one. Participation in electoral campaigns: they finance the proselytizing activities of candidates in search of placing them in decision-making positions.

two. Negotiations with local groups: Through alliances with criminal organizations they seek to extend their presence and control in the territories.

3. armed way: it implies the murder of adversaries, but also of authorities, as well as the sending of messages to those in power.

“The involvement of drug traffickers in the states has been going on for many years and the pressure maneuvers against the governors have also been going on for a long time; however, now we are also seeing that (the governments) are giving in”, he highlights.
