Organizations: Six months later, the murderer of priests remains unpunished

What happened in Cerocahui is a sample of what is still going on in the country since, from January to October of this year, there have been 1,710 murders in the state of Chihuahua and 26,119 in the national territory, it indicates.

The organizations point out that the murders and the intricate access to justice by the victims “are a sign of impunity, insecurity and the lack of guarantees for the most basic exercise of human rights in our country.”

This broad framework of violence has transgressed the various sectors of the population, as well as those people who, regardless of their creed, walk in favor of peace, community well-being and human rights, they add.

“The pain for the brothers murdered on June 20 is a reality that thousands of people experience daily in Mexico and that will only be healed when we find justice in the work of the Mexican State and in actions without violence that make cultural changes possible. in favor of peace”, they add.

The organizations ask the Chihuahua authorities to present concrete advances in the investigation; safeguard the security of the peoples and communities of the region; immediate capture of José Noriel Portillo Gil, alias “El Chueco”, and those responsible for the murders; disintegrate the criminal networks that control the region; guarantee the rights to truth, justice, reparation and non-repetition of the victims.

The federal authorities are asked to work in coordination with the state authorities, as well as in communication with the various social actors in the region; guarantee the security of those who work for peace and the defense of human rights, of peoples and communities; Generate a comprehensive strategy capable of serving and facilitating access to justice for all victims of violence and insecurity in Mexico.
