Superlative problems require ambitious solutions. Confronted from our countries with realities such as the transition from conventional, petty or domestic corruption (within each sovereign state) to the phenomenon of significant or transnational corruption (organized crime that crosses state borders); It is up to patriots across borders to unite minds, efforts and capacities to seek collaborative solutions to the scourges of corruption and impunity, which threaten our democracies, our economic and social development and therefore not only our quality of life but also our life itself as a product deficient infrastructure, education and health, lack of physical and legal security, etc. just to cite some of the impacts of both scourges on citizens of our countries.
United by this common philosophy, the organizations: International Integrity Initiative (https://integrityinitiatives.org/) and Colombia Anti-Corruption Institute (https://www.estudiosanticorrupcion.org/), hand in hand with their local allies the Coordinadora de Abogados del Paraguay – COAPY (www.coapy.org.py) and the SCO organization Somos Anticorrupción Paraguay – SAPY presented on 10/21/22 the Campaign for the creation of the International Anti-Corruption Court to leaders of organized civil society in the Paraguay specialized in Law, in a space for presentation and debate.
On the occasion, international representatives of the initiative spoke, such as the lawyer Claudia Escobar (Guatemala, former Appeals Judge), the economist Augusto López – Claros (Bolivia, former director of the Global Indicators Group of the World Bank and the World Economic Forum) and the lawyer Michel Levien (director of the Anti-Corruption Institute and Streiner Anti-Corruption Bureau. Professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey); who, with the moderation of the lawyer María Esther Roa (President of COAPY) and the lawyer Miriam Benítez Romero (Project Management and volunteer at SAPY & COAPY) discussed the pros, cons and challenges of the initiative of the International Anti-Corruption Court with a select forum of legal specialists and leaders of the SCO of Greater Asunción such as María Victoria Rivas (CEJ), Hugo Estigarribia, Lissy Sánchez (CIRD), Linda Taiyen (CODELESTE), Juan Pablo Fernández, Manual Doldán, Alberto Cabrera (Fuera Listas Sábana ); and from the interior like Michaela Vera, David Bogado and others. Remaining agreed another meeting/debate on a date that will be communicated by the COAPY.
