The axes of the citizen proposal
The initiative, elaborated by civil organizations such as the power of the consumer, Health Justa MX, Institute of the Urban South, Bicitekas coalition of Safe Mobility and Polithink, has six main axes:
Harmonization with the General Law on Mobility and Road Safety federal to give normative coherence and the effective application of the right to mobility with road safety.
Transverse recognition of the right to mobility With road safety, where priority is given to the care of the life and integrity of people, especially marginalized sectors: girls and boys, people with disabilities, older adults, cyclists, pedestrians and inhabitants of the periphery.
Mandatory measures to prevent injuries and deaths from traffic factssuch as speeding, under the influence of alcohol, lack of belt or helmet use – in the case of motorcyclists -, wheel and weak control distractions.
Prehospital Medical Care as an obligation of the authoritieswhich must create an emergency medical care system for victims of traffic accidents in a coordinated manner and with verifiable response times to reduce deaths.
Auto School Regulation and Road Training To establish mandatory minimum requirements with approved curricula, practical evaluations and a zero alcohol tolerance policy for new drivers.
Vehicular security actions for injury and deathssuch as the obligation that in the acquisition of public vehicle fleets, units that have safety measures to reduce incidents and protect the occupants of the vehicle must be purchased.
Carreón stressed that it is vitally important to achieve harmonization as soon as possible, since the city government is in the process of creating a new comprehensive mobility plan and a comprehensive road safety plan for the next six years.
The event was present at the local deputy Miguel Ángel Macedo Cartin, from Morena, who presides over the Mobility Commission in the City Congress.
