It was published today (10) on Official Diary of the Union ordinance of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security which authorizes the National Force to act in the fight against organized crime in Amazonas. According to the text, agents of the federal force will be able to act in the fight against drug trafficking and environmental crimes in Operation Arpão, in the Middle Solimões region, on the Negro and Solimões rivers.
The performance of the National Force is scheduled to take place for 90 days. The government of the state of Amazonas, which requested the support, must provide the necessary logistics for the work of the federal force.
The Arpão Base is a vessel moored on the Solimões River to support police actions in the region. The river base was inaugurated in August 2020 with the main objective of combating drug trafficking. The infrastructure was financed by the federal government and houses operations by the Civil and Military Police of Amazonas, the Fire Department, the Federal Police and the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
