After almost four years of the fateful explosion in the PH Costa Mare, in the area of Costa Sur, Corregimiento de Don Bosco, this Monday, March 6, the Trial Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, made up of judges Viterbo Quintero Montenegro, Leira Terán, José Madrid, began the oral trial followed by three citizens, accused of crimes against life and personal integrity in the form of culpable homicide, and for the crime of aggravated personal injury.
Let us remember that on the night of May 31, 2019, an explosion in Tower 7 of the apartment building caused the death of a 10-month-old baby who, having burns on 86% of his body, did not survive. Her mother and her 5-year-old brother had severe burns on 90 and 70% of their bodies. Another fourteen people were slightly injured.
The hearing, in which the parties involved plan to present a total of 67 pieces of evidence including testimonials, expert opinions and documentaries, began on the morning of Monday, March 6, with the presentation of the theory of the case by the representative of the Public Ministry, Jose Leyva.
While for the defense of the defendants participated the private technical defenders Abilio Batista, Josephin Levy and Jerónimo Mejía. The complaint was in charge of the lawyer Eduardo Guevara.
