The Judiciary summoned for October 19 the oral trial hearing against the candidate for Mayor of Lima for Popular Renovation, Rafael Lopez Aliagafor the alleged crime of defamation against the also applicant Daniel Urrestifrom Podemos Peru.
The document states that if López Aliaga does not appear, he will be “declared a contumacious prisoner and his location and compulsive driving ordered.”
Urresti Elera’s complaint was made after López Aliaga linked him to the Hugo Bustíos murder case, for which the Podemos Peru applicant is facing trial for the alleged crime of murder.
According to the latest Ipsos poll for El Comercio, these two are the candidates with the highest voting intentions in the capital’s mayoral elections. Urresti leads the poll with 27% and is followed by López Aliaga with 25%. It should be noted that there is 21% of voters in dispute, between those who indicate that they will vote blank and those who have not decided.
Elections will be held on October 2 throughout the country and regional and municipal authorities will be elected.
