Estrella del Sur Triple Gold Award was received by Alejandro Palau

Cerro Largo received the Estrella del Sur Triple Gold Award, a distinction that is awarded annually to national and foreign writers in a ceremony held at the Radisson Montevideo Victoria Plaza Hotel.

In previous editions of this same contest, he had already obtained the common Estrella del Sur awards and the silver, gold and double gold Estrellas del Sur awards.

“Shared Verses is a community where literary contests are held every year and the winners make up the Annual Anthology and several other books throughout the year” express Alejandro Palau.

The Journalist, Communicator and Writer from Cerro Largo has been participating in these events for several years and has achieved several recognitions.

“In this 13th Anthology they gave us the slogan, which was Echoes of the Dawn, and from there we have approximately 4 pages to write in narrative poetry. On this occasion they awarded me 1st Prize, that’s why we are on the 1st page” reported.

“This year, in addition, I was honored with the Estrella del Sur Triple Gold award” revealed. “There is the common Star of the South, the silver one, the gold one, the double gold and this 2025 is the Triple Gold” explained to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL.

This is the 5th consecutive year receiving the distinction in an award that not only brings together writers, but also athletes, politicians and health workers, in short, outstanding personalities in their respective areas. “It is done every year at the Radisson Victoria Plaza” said.

ABOUT 250 PUBLISHED WORKS AND 2 BOOKS ON THE WAY

“We have participated in many international competitions and today we have reached 250 works published in national and international anthologies, while we are finishing the first two books” advancement.

“The first book is Everyday Stories of a Common Man and the second is Uruguay, Voices from the Deep Interior” Palau confirmed. “There will be legends and anecdotes that are not written in books, that are rooted in very old families within Uruguay, in very deep places. They are anecdotes and legends that range from humor to terror, drama and love.” he commented.

With these works, the writer seeks to ensure that these oral stories, which are part of the Uruguayan idiosyncrasy, closely linked to the history of the country itself, are not forgotten.

He estimated that they will be ready by the end of next year. “This takes a long time because you have to collect a lot of data and then pass it on to the literary part” broad.

APPLAUSE, MEDAL AND KISS

“In literature, something that well-known writers such as Laura Furest or Marcos Hernández can corroborate, awards are obtained and it is an achievement for the soul, but it is applause, a medal and a kiss” he stated. “There is no financial compensation, not even travel expenses to go and receive the awards” illustrated.

“Generally we writers have a low profile, but they should be more disseminated because we are part of the framework of a great Cerro Largo. We have excellent artists in all areas and very good athletes in all disciplines” he remarked.

Alejandro Palau said that culture is like a big globe where there are parts that in no way can be left out. “We have great writers, people who have a low profile, but do things very well and always do them for Cerro Largo. Every award I have received has their book next to it, their work. This is not painted, it is not won just like that nor is it bought.” accurate. “Each one says where we are from, they talk about Cerro Largo, that is, we are multiplying our idiosyncrasy at a national and global level because many of these books go to cultural houses in Latin America. We have two thanks from the Governments of Mexico and Panama for books that have arrived” hill.
