The data collection phase for SB Brasil, the national oral health survey, was extended until September 30th. The initial forecast was that the term would end in August. According to the Ministry of Health, the stage has been extended so that the goal of 50 thousand participants can be reached.
In the capitals, 1,400 people will be evaluated. The other analyzes will be carried out in municipalities in the interior of the country, encompassing the five regions. So far, only 96 cities have completed the survey. In a note, the ministry reinforced that there is no provision for a further extension of the deadline.

Conducted in partnership with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the research proposes to improve the provision of dental services at all levels of care in the public health network, gathering data considered essential for the planning of actions at the municipal, state and municipal levels. federal.
Through the survey, it is possible to identify the most prevalent oral diseases, the need for dental prostheses and the conditions of occlusion and dental trauma. To participate in this third edition, you must to have between 5 and 12 years; 15 and 19 years old; 35 and 44 years old; or 65 and 74 years.
Phases
At first, the participants or their guardians are interviewed about their socioeconomic status, access to and use of dental services, dental and orofacial pain, self-perception and impact of oral health on daily life. Afterwards, the dentist performs the physical examination, which can identify emergencies.
According to the ministry, those responsible for data collection are professionals from Basic Health Units (UBS) who already know the community and who will be wearing a vest, cap and badge. Because of the pandemic, biosecurity measures were reinforced, with the use of personal protective equipment.
