Saint Dominic.- The Office for the Reorganization of Transport (OPRET) reported this Sunday the final junction of the viaduct that connects the extension ofl Santo Domingo Metro towards Los Alcarrizos, reaching 95% progress in civil works.
This part marks the entry of the project into its final stage.
The assembly of the viaduct, which extends 6.3 kilometers, represents a milestone in the execution of this important infrastructure.
The project is supervised by the firm Epsa-Labco and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through the Ibero-Mexican company TYPSA, which reinforces the transparency and quality of the work.
Project characteristics
The viaduct has been developed under strict international standards to guarantee its durability and safety. Currently, work is focused on laying rails, installing electrical poles for train tracks and lighting systems at stations. In addition, the drainage system of the 940-meter tunnel, whose excavation was completed months ago, is practically completed.

The director of OPRET, engineer Rafael Santos Pérez, expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved, highlighting the support of renowned national and international companies in the execution of the project.
“This achievement reflects not only the technical progress of the project, but also our commitment to excellence in each stage of construction,” said Santos Pérez.
In addition, he highlighted the positive impact that the extension of the Metro will have on urban mobility and the quality of life of citizens.
“With the leadership of President Luis Abinader, the extension to Los Alcarrizos will be a benchmark in the railway development of the Dominican Republic,” he added.
The extension of the Santo Domingo Metro to Los Alcarrizos seeks to significantly improve public transportation in this area, offering an efficient, safe and modern alternative for thousands of citizens. This project is considered one of the Government’s main commitments to strengthening urban mobility.
