Santo Domingo, DR. – After the call made by community members through the newspaper El Día, the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) began the work to adapt the intervened tracks where the construction of the piers of the viaduct of Line 1B of the Santo Domingo Metro has already been completed.
The intervention aims to improve the conditions of the environment for the Christmas season, increase the quality of life of residents and reduce the risk of accidents in the area.
Since the beginning of the expansion work on Metro Line 1 towards San Felipe de Villa Mella, the only main road in the sector has suffered progressive deterioration, significantly aggravating vehicular traffic, which itself remains permanently congested.

Residents of sectors such as Pura María Cruz (PUMAC) assure that the streets are in unusable conditions and expect a prompt response from the authorities to improve access and mobility in the community.
On their side, authorities of the Ministry of Public Works They informed the community members that the responsibility for the intervention falls on the OPRET, because these roads will be used as detour routes and vehicular relief during the execution of the Santo Domingo Metro works.
