The opposition in the Senate vacated the board of directors of the house on the morning of Thursday (7), after almost 48 hours, without the President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) committed to guide the impeachment Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
THE Opposition riot In the Senate began after Moraes decree the house arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The former president is a defendant for attempted coup and is also being investigated for obstruction of criminal proceedings, after actions by the US against Brazilian trade and the sanction of the White House against Moraes.
Senate opposition leader Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) said that the mobilization for the removal of Moraes continues and that the “victory” of the opposition was, according to him, to have gained more support in favor of the impeachment of the STF Minister.
“It is evident that Senator David will be guided by the political environment. By the time the majority of the Senate positions themselves, have no doubt that this will weigh on Senator David’s position.”
The president of the Senate, according to the Constitution, has the exclusive prerogative to guide impeachment of STF ministers.
For now, alcohumbre resists committing to the agenda. Upon entering the plenary today, the president just said “let’s work” when questioned by the press.

Senator of Val
Another opposition agenda in the Senate was the suspension of precautionary measures against Senator Marcos do Val (Somos-ES), Thanks to wearing anklets after breaking precautionary measures of the Supreme Court. According to Rogério Marinho, Alcolumbre pledged to appeal the decision in the Supreme.
The Senator of Val is investigated for allegedly intimidating Federal Police delegates responsible for the investigation against Bolsonaro. He was forbidden to leave the country, but failed to comply with a court decision when traveling to the US.
Democracy
Senate government leader Senator Jacques Wagner (PT-BA) said that at the meeting with alcohubre yesterday (6), the president of the house reported that he would not give up the prerogatives of president of the Senate and Congress.
“He said he wouldn’t make a wake up and upon blackmail. I think he made the right decision. People seem to forget about January 8 very quickly.”
“This exceptionality that we are living in the institutional relationship has to do with the exceptionality, totally unusual, which was the non -acceptance of the electoral result and the depredation of the three powers of the Republic,” he said.
For Jaques Wagner, these actions against the result of the 2022 election should not be treated smoothly: “This is the most serious act I saw from an attack on Brazilian democracy.”
With the end of the Senate occupation, President David held the session on Thursday in person. He had planned the meeting remotely because of the opposition riot.
THE House approved the bill which grants exemption from income tax (IR) to workers who receive up to two minimum wages. The approved text replaced provisional measure sent by the government and the project now goes to presidential sanction.
