A wave of criticism, and even requests for resignation, generated the statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, in the Citizen Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. The Secretary of State charged that under the second government of Sebastian Pinera, a plane with expelled foreigners returned to Chile with all its passengers. Siches later acknowledged that the information was wrong.
“We identified that one of the planes of the expulsions that were made to Venezuela, returned with the same people, and we had no idea, with all the passengers expelled!” Siches said in the instance.

Subsequently, the former Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgadosummoned Siches, to which the authority retracted his statements -indicating that the information was erroneous- and apologized.
From the opposition, the deputy Jorge Duran (RN) stated that Siches “has to leave today. The position of Minister of the Interior is not for these shameful chambonadas. You lied and tried to attribute a crime to the previous government and the PDI and seriously compromised the security and honor of the nation. If he does not leave, we will promote the constitutional accusation, I invite the opposition to organize themselves”.
Meanwhile, the deputy Juan Antonio Coloma (UDI) pointed out that the minister “must resign from her post today.
“Not only has she shown complete political incapacity to lead the fight against crime and terrorism, but she lies in the House committee and only apologizes when ‘she is caught’. A piece of paper, a shame,” he emphasized.
For his part, the deputy Ruben Oyarzo (PDG), expressed that they are evaluating an interpellation and a constitutional accusation against the head of the Interior.
“This cannot be, this cannot be solved with simple apologies, we believe that it is serious and we must give more than apologies and that is why we are evaluating a constitutional accusation,” said Oyarzo.

Siches had already made the accusations against the government of former President Piñera on April 1, in conversation with the Atacama Diary.
“We were informed that one of the deportation planes organized by Chile could not have the destination that was Venezuela, and all those people who had judicial deportation were returned to the country,” said the former president of the Medical Association (Colmed) in conversation with the Newspaper.
“We do not know the details of the situation of those people, it is very serious because fiscal resources are dispensed and there is no coordination with those people who should be returned to their country,” she added, in her first interview as Secretary of State.

Siches’ misstep puts his “iron circle” in the spotlight again. And it is that the head of the Interior has already been criticized for political errors, such as the frustrated visit to Temucuicui or the use of the term Wallmapu, which led to questions from Argentine authorities and former authorities.
