Jesús Armas was a councilor for Libertador between 2013 and 2018 and put his name to run for Mayor. He was part of the Primero Justicia party, which he resigned in July 2023 to join the ranks of Vente Venezuela, founded by María Corina Machado.
The Con Vzla Command denounced on the night of this Tuesday the 10th the “kidnapping” of the political leader and former councilor of the Libertador municipality (Caracas) Jesús Armas, by hooded officials.
Representatives of political parties such as Primero Justicia and Voluntad Popular joined the complaint. Armas was intercepted after 9:00 pm by a group of hooded men, aboard a gray van, at the exit of a cafe in Las Mercedes (Baruta municipality).
«His arrest is a clear example of the repression and persecution of the Nicolás Maduro regime against dissent. We tell Maduro that this only shows how weak he is. Today on human rights day, the dictatorship continues to arbitrarily detain anyone who thinks differently. “No more disappearances or violations of human rights!” said the Command in their networks social.

The vice president of Strategy, Communication and International Relations of Primer Justicia, Julio Borges, pointed out that Jesús Armas is an activist “who has fought for a better quality of life for the people of Caracas. He has not committed any crime. “We hold Maduro responsible for what may happen to him.”

Organizations such as Monitor Salud and Kaleidoscopio Humano joined the complaint and demanded to know his whereabouts.

The leader, who chairs Ciudadanía Sin Límites, has accompanied the relatives of political prisoners in the protests for their freedom. It has also played an active role in organizing communities for rights such as access to water and energy.
