Opposition fails to challenge the CPI prosecutor in investigation into Venezuela

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said that the attempt to challenge the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (CPI), Karim Khan, in the investigation into alleged crimes against humanity committed in Venezuela .

“That challenge was tried by the team of the inept of María Corina against the prosecutor,” said Wednesday in issuance 516 of his program with El Mazo giving.

For that reason, he said that the extremist opposition sector in this case, “were for wool and came out shaver.”

Cabello, when reading the resolution, said the ICC “had to expressly leave in writing that there is still no case against Nicolás Maduro.”

He added that at this point there is no investigation against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

“The Criminal Court responds to the opposition, which will not tolerate their claims to instrumentalize the Court for political purposes, as they did with the USAID, for personal purposes with the management of their funds,” he said.

The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) declared on Monday, February 18, inadmissible the request to challenge prosecutor Karim Kham in the aforementioned investigation.

On the website of the ICC, the decision on the application of the Arcadia Foundation was published, made in November 2024. In the document they explain that an urgent motion was also denied on alleged procedural irregularities and ethical violations, made by the same foundation.
