For the opposition in the Chamber of Deputies, the year that is about to end has been one of chiaroscuro, since it has been able to contain reforms that would have been very serious for the country
but it has not succeeded in making a single substantive, important or transcendental initiative prosper, admitted the president of San Lázaro, PAN member Santiago Creel.
He stressed that the opposition parties have not been able to hold a dialogue with the President, which is a negative balance.
Among the initiatives that have stopped, he listed the electricity and the constitutional one in electoral matters. He also pointed out that modifications to secondary laws have been challenged through controversies and unconstitutionality actions, which, he announced, will continue to be done.
He estimated that the opposition has been able to exercise its rights as a political minority, although in a highly polarized, strident environment, not conducive to a productive, deliberative and democratic dialogue. The former Secretary of the Interior explained that there has been an exchange of ideas in the Chamber of Deputies and even outside the plenary session. There is a lot of cordiality thing that I appreciate
but in what is truly important in the country, we have not advanced
.
What is relevant, he pointed out, is to reduce violence, improve the economy, have a health system that at least distributes medicines throughout the country, overcome the educational gap and generate more jobs and salaries.
The PAN member stressed that steps forward should be taken in these aspects, but we are not doing it
. Everything that has been discussed about the electoral reform remains practically in a minimal situation regarding the problem of violence and the intervention of organized crime in the elections, he considered.
Creel added that it is necessary to reform the police system and strengthen public security institutions, but we can’t even open the topic
because the camera does not want to be addressed; There are other issues that you want to discuss
.
