The opposition demanded justice this Saturday, October 8, four years after the death of Councilman Fernando Albán, who was detained at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin). Two officials of this organization were sentenced for this death.

The former deputy and member of the Primero Justicia (PJ) party Yajaira Forero indicated in a press release that it is necessary to present the Sebin chain of command before the authorities and justice, and not only “low-rank” officials.

“We demand that the Sebin chain of command also respond to the authorities and to justice. No one deserves to die like our brother Fernando Albán died on a day like today,” he said.

Likewise, Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly (AN) in 2015 and recognized as president in charge of Venezuela by a group of countries, recalled Albán’s death on his Twitter account, while demanding justice for the alleged victims of rape. of human rights.

For his part, Julio Borges maintained that they will continue to accompany Albán’s relatives in “their fight for truth, justice and reparation. We know his suffering and how difficult it has been to recover from this irreparable loss ».

Fernando Albán died on October 8, 2018 at the Sebin facilities in Caracas, where he was being held for allegedly being involved in an alleged drone attack against President Nicolás Maduro.

Saab explained that the officials were convicted of the crimes of manslaughter, breach of custody obligations, conspiracy and facilitation of aggravated escape.

In January 2019, former Venezuelan prosecutor Luisa Ortega Díaz went to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to denounce Albán’s death. Then, she assured that “it was a murder” and denounced the existence of “contradictions” in the stories that were later offered by government spokesmen and various ministers.
