«We express our gratitude for the political and solidarity gesture that friendly countries such as Spain, Argentina, the United States, Chile and Mexico have had for offering nationality to more than 316 people exiled and stripped of their nationality by the dictatorship. For our part, we will not stop fighting until we return to the citizens the Nicaragua that we so long for, nor will we stop denouncing all the abuses of this disastrous dictatorship that seeks to perpetuate itself in power against the will of the people,” said the statement signed by 10 organizations. .

Ortega reformed article 21 of the Political Constitution of the Republic to remove Nicaraguan nationality from dissident voices to his regime. Lawyers and local and international human rights organizations have affirmed that what the Ortega judges did was in violation of international law.

In view of this, they call on the international community, “mainly countries committed to democracy and human rights, not only to condemn these acts but to translate them into concrete actions, which may include more economic sanctions and the invocation of the responsibility of protect”.

“We extend this same call for multilateral organizations to formally pronounce on this fact. We will not stop fighting against this regime that only offers the people and the youth, crisis, economic, social and humanitarian chaos, without prospects for a better future,” the statement concluded.
