Mobile operators start to activate today (5) the 5G signal in three more capitals: Fortaleza (CE), Natal (RN) and Recife (PE). The endorsement of the gradual start of operations was announced last Thursday (1), by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).
According to industry rules, Claro, Tim and Vivo must activate 102 5G stations in Fortaleza; 63 in Recife and 33 in Natal until November 28.
Operators were also already offering the new network signal to their customers in 12 other capitals: Brasília (DF); Belo Horizonte (MG); Curitiba (PR); Florianopolis (SC); Goiania (GO); João Pessoa (PB); Palmas (TO); Porto Alegre (RS); Rio de Janeiro – RJ); Salvador BA); São Paulo (SP) and Vitória (ES).
The initial 5G activation schedule in Brazil provided that the initial signal would be available throughout the country at the end of September, but in the first half of August, as recommended by the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems (Gaispi ), Anatel extended the deadline by up to two months, due to a delay in importing equipment.
As a result, in the other 12 capitals where the service is not yet available, companies will have until November 27 to connect the stations and start offering the 5G signal.
