Through a series of operations between the National Police and the Public Ministry carried out in order to counteract criminal activities at the national level and locate people required for impact crimes that affect citizen security, this Wednesday the arrest of 27 people was reported. .
According to the Deputy Director of the National Police, Simón Henríquez, among these operational actions is Operation Apache, which included more than 20 search procedures in sectors of the metropolitan area, the provinces of Panama Oeste, Veraguas and Herrera, apprehending 15 people allegedly linked to the crime against the Economic Patrimony in its modalities of Theft of Cars and Illicit Appropriation of Vehicles.
According to investigations carried out by the Fourth Section of Crimes Against Property of the Metropolitan Area, these people rented cars from different rental companies in the country using documentation that was not theirs, to then appropriate the vehicles and after a while, several of these were commercialized in the Metropolitan area and others, taken to Costa Rica to sell them with another identity and at lower costs.
Meanwhile, in Operation Soprano, 4 people are apprehended for crimes against Life and Personal Integrity, three of these for the modality of Attempted Homicide and one for Homicide, events recorded in the months of April, August and December of 2022.
Said operation contemplated the simultaneous execution of six search procedures in the corregimientos of Curundú, El Chorrillo, as well as in West Panama and in the East sector, being located and placed under the orders of the Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor’s Office.
Likewise, after the development of 16 search procedures in Operation Tarsus in the province of Colón, the National Police has apprehended 8 people who are allegedly required by means of a judicial document for the commission of the Crime Against Economic Heritage in its modalities of Robbery. and Thefts.
Among those apprehended are seven people linked to investigations for the crime of Robbery and one for the crime of Theft, proceedings carried out in coordination with the Public Ministry, as part of the operational strategies against crime in this province.
The National Police continues its operational and preventive actions in favor of the healthy coexistence of communities at the national level.
