Within the framework of the Rehabilitation and Paving project of the San Juan Nepomuceno Section, junction with the PY06 route, the NGO A Todo Pulmón Paraguay Respira is already working on strengthening the nurseries that were selected with the objective of responding to the demand environmental initiatives in the area.
A total of 7 forest nurseries in the districts of Tava’i, San Juan Nepomuceno and San Rafael del Paraná are being strengthened through significant support with inputs, infrastructure, tools and equipment, accompanied by a training plan, which will include a technical, commercialization and marketing aspect.
The activities are framed as environmental compensation within the Sustainable Reforestation Program, carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and A Todo Pulmón.
“I need to enlarge my nursery a little more, because I have a lot of demand for orders, but little infrastructure. This project motivates me to grow. Now I only have yerba mate, but the idea is to have a wide variety of plants,” commented Luis Villalba, from Vivero La Familia, located in Itapúa.

The design of the support plan was carried out in a participatory manner with each owner, in order to detect their strengths and weaknesses to obtain better results. The 7 selected nurseries are: Capiibary Cooperative nursery, SERFOR nursery, INFONA – Caazapá Regional nursery, ALC nursery, San Lucas nursery, La Familia nursery and Ñu Pyahu nursery.
These actions also respond to compliance with the Socio-environmental Policies of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), that seek socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable development, aimed at long-term economic growth and poverty reduction, as well as reducing inequality and thus improving people’s lives.
