The KC-30 aircraft, from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), used in Operation “Raízes do Cedro”, landed today (25), at 4:15 am, with another 239 passengers and three domestic animals rescued from the conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli Army , in Lebanon.
It is the eight flight with Brazilians, and their families, who were in Lebanon and asked to return to Brazil. In total, 1,877 people and 21 pets were brought from the conflict region in the Middle East. Itamaraty stated that it received around three thousand requests to board repatriations.
Operation Cedro Roots, promoted by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, began on October 5th, with the intensification of the conflict in the Middle East.
The operation also has the support of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS), the Ministry of Health, the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue Service and the Federal Highway Police.
Itamaraty, through the Brazilian Embassy in Beirut, maintains contact with Brazilians and their close family members to provide consular assistance and verify the need to organize repatriation flights.
The Brazilian government also highlights the alert regarding the security guidelines of the Lebanese authorities, with those with available resources seeking to leave Lebanese territory by their own means. Beirut airport continues to operate, with 26 daily flights from the Lebanese company Middle East Airlines.
