On Wednesday night, the sexual crimes prosecutor Mariana Alfaro obtained two new convictions in the framework of the Ocean operation, which has already reached eight people convicted, all through abbreviated procedure.
The eighth convict received a sentence of three years in prison, which he will serve in a mixed regime. In the first place, he will have to serve a month of house arrest with an exit regime with different schedules depending on the day, due to his work. Subsequently, he will enter a total home regimen with the imposition of an electronic anklet. Then there will be 12 months of partial residence with electronic monitoring and finally, 17 months of concurrence before a sectional.
This complex regime responds to personal issues of the convicted person who attends to the family, work and health.
As for the other convict, the sentence is also three years and the compliance regime is mixed, like that of the majority. The offender must spend a period of house arrest from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.; 15 months of effective prison; six months of total house arrest; five months of house arrest at night and nine months of supervised release.
Ancillary penalties were applied to both of them, which include economic compensation, impossibility of approaching the victim, loss of parental authority and disqualification from certain jobs related to children in public or private spheres.
Deadline is Friday
This Friday ends the period given by Justice to the prosecutor Alfaro to present the final accusation against the remaining defendants. So far there are eight defendants with whom this prosecutor reached abbreviated procedure agreements, plus another from whom the prosecutor Darviña Viera, who led the Ocean operation at the beginning, obtained a conviction.
In addition, these nine defendants are joined by three people whose cases were dismissed, but it is expected that there will be more. Altogether, the prosecution estimates to bring about 20 formalziados to oral trial.
