The new hearing of the megacause Operation Ocean which was to take place on Wednesday, February 9 was postponed this Tuesday to March 20 because one of the victims, who was going to make an advance declaration, is not in the countryas established in the request for an extension of the hearing to which he agreed The Observer. It is the fifth time that this hearing has been postponed since November 2021.

The legal part explains that on November 5, in an extension hearing, the victim in question “was planning a trip for the summer holidays”that began on January 30, and has a completion date in mid-March.

Two defense attorneys for the accused informed The Observer that they asked that the hearing be postponed due to the victim’s tripto which her lawyer Soledad Suárez expressed herself negatively because it argued that the declarant would arrive before the established deadline.

Suarez told The Observer that he was not going to confirm either the date or the reason for the extension request, but he assured that already in November they had warned that “it was possible that they could not attend.” “The dates were moving, and it remained in the one that we warned that it could not be done”indicated Suárez, and added that his defense requested this extension, but “the other four did not”.

The next hearing will be the first with prosecutor Mariana Alfaro in charge of the caseafter the departure of Darviña Viera for health reasons. The case has had several postponements, the last one after the defendants’ lawyers presented a letter in which they expressed the difficulties in accessing more than 50 files with evidence.
